almost done building

this is how much i got done in half a day. i think it's pretty good progress for my first time :). anyways i am having 2 problems right now that i could use help solving

1.  my computer randomly shuts down once in a while. i think it's the power supply that might be faulty or i might have hooked it up wrong. does anyone know some common mistakes and how to fix them?

2. i installed windows xp twice. since it didnt work completely the first time, i now have 2 disk partitions for the OS. so when it starts up, i have to choose between "windows xp pro" and "windows xp pro" which i think is pretty redundant. so it would help if anyone knew how to delete a partition/OS section of the hard disk?

it could be overheating. Auto-shut down when the temp goes too high

1. it might be a loose connection. you're power supply is a good brand and i don't think that it would be faulty.

check all of your connections. There might be a malfucntion. It could also be overheating

the stock fans might not be that great. Use a tool called speedfan (google it) and check your temperatures.

If those look hot, pick up a new fan from best buy or a similar store

2. this should help you out with that: http://lifehacker.com/software/partition/how-to-modify-your-partitions-f...

and a couple of questions:

why are you using a microatx board for an atx case?

i mean, it works fine, but then you have less pci ports, ram slots, etc.

also, you're wasting expansion slots
