Description
Welcome to the Infinite Worlds project.
Creating fantasy planets has always been a long, arduous process for graphic designers in many fields (particularly game design and movie special effects).
What if, instead of handcrafting each world, they could simply put values into an algorithm that created worlds for them? These wouldn't be just the common pixelated drawing of a world: these would be photorealistic and customizable. Such variables as continent size, water/land ratio, icecap size, river and lake frequency, terrain type distribution, and many others could be put into the algorithm. The algorithm would then give them a world with the specified parameters. The number of possible worlds is greater than the number of particles in the entire universe, so no two worlds would ever be the same.
This project is about an algorithm that I will be creating that fulfills this purpose. To create the algorithm and render the worlds, I will be using a program called Vue 6 Infinite.
This is an Inaugural FreshBrain General Scholarship project.
