Our first full release of the platform on which your students will be able to do activities and projects using our state of the art platform, tools, training and with the support communities and advisors! We will continue to update freshbrain.org with new features, more activities and projects, new tools and more training as we monitor use and collect feedback. This is the beginning of a journey that we are convinced will be of great value!!!

The premise behind FreshBrain is that we need to enhance the technology education that our students are receiving today by providing a progressive environment where they can learn by doing. Few students today are getting the full educational experience - especially as it relates to technology. They are typically being provided a strong traditional academic education, and although most schools have some form of technology curriculum, they are not getting enough of an opportunity to explore, create and find their passion.

FreshBrain has been created to address this gap. We will enable students to do projects or activities that are hands on, supported by an set of tools, technologies, tutorials, classes and a community of volunteers committed to helping them succeed.

Our approach is solid and supported by some amazing research.  Please take a look at the "Digital Youth Research" project sponsored by the MacArthur Foundation and completed by a team of researchers from USC and UC Berkeley.  And please play the video above.  Mizuko Ito, one of the lead researchers does an amazing job of explaining how our youth's time online is not a waste.

Project
Is an extensive task undertaken by student(s) to take an idea and turn it into something substantial. A project can range from something that one person completes in a number of weeks to that which a team completes in a number of months. It will typically follow a fairly standard creation process which includes a number of phases. The exercise usually involves going through a systematic process to simulate real business scenarios where projects are justified through some quantifiable metrics, including preparing a business plan and building the technical 'end product'.
Activity
Is a reasonably simple, pre-designed task undertaken typically by a number of students independently to take an idea and create something useful. An activity would often be completed in a number of days to weeks. There are two categories of activities: Open and Sponsored. Open activities are always available to the students to complete. There are no deadlines and no rewards associated wit their completion (other than maybe a certificate or similar). Sponsored activities are available for a limited duration with a deadline and rewards. They are most often sponsored by another company but can be sponsored by FreshBrain as well.
We believe the students will get tremendous value out of completing a project or activity.

This experience will better prepare them for the future, whether that be going to college or starting their own company!

For every project or activity completed, they will receive a certificate of completion. This can be viewed from the website, sent to interested parties or printed. For students who successfully complete a project, they will also receive letters of reference from the executive team that oversees their work and of course the participants will own all IP they create. These will also be available in the same ways. And based on funding available, scholarships may be awarded.

freshbrain.org is FREE. This is not a free trial or free for the basic version. Everything that we do will be paid for by our donors so that it doesn't cost anything. We do not and will not ever sell personal or confidential information.
