 I thought this would be a good way to get to know what people here are listening too so that music projects can be geared towards creating a song that fits their style.

i love all music...except for country...and rap(and other related genres...) i listen to pretty much any kind of metal, jazz, indie, classical, occasionaly some classic rock, grunge, some of the early alternative stuff...and i could go on and on and on and on... i've played in a folk band...and i've played thrash metal and jazz... i've also been in band for about seven years, so i've played all of that..... music, art and horses are my life. | |

oh man anything haha my current obbession is stuff with like metalish music but good vocals instead of screaming. i LOVE saosin. they blow my mind up. also anything indie, alternative....basiically everything but those punk bands that wont let it go and only know how to cover the casualties or the misfits. some of my favorites are: saosin, circa survive, anthony green, john allred, the arctic monkeys, nevershoutnever, pierce the veil, attack attack, goodnight sunrise, The hush Sound, the years gone by, ALL TIME LOW!, Versaemerge, Paramore, Chiodos, Cinimatic sunrise, Craig Owens, Dance gavin Dance, Emarosa......i could go on all those can be found on myspace or purevolume. if you think any of those are good email me at j-town_blues@hotmail.com i am always looking for new bands and people to talk about music with. | |

One word in answer to the original question: Prog. Stuff like Meshuggah, Muse, Pink Floyd, Coheed and Cambria, Textures, Protest the Hero or The Human Abstract. The kind of rock music that expands your mind if you pay enough attention. Case in point: Meshuggah. This is an actual excerpt from the wikipedia article about them: “[The drummer] beats a rather slow 4/4 rhythm with his hands, while the bass drums and guitars play a repetitive 23/16 rhythm pattern on top of it. As the subdivided pattern is repeated, the pattern’s accents shift to different beats on each repetition. After repeating the 23/16 pattern five times, a shorter 13/16 pattern is played once. I'll listen to just about anything. some of my favorites include: paramore, demi lovato, jonas brothers, lady gaga, the maine, hotspur, all time low, taylor swift, martina mcbride, keith urban, pcd, beyonce. my brother got me listening to chiodos and system of a down. i don't judge, if i like it i'll listen to it. the only music i don't really listen to is rap and hip hop, too much unnecessary cursing >.< | |
