I want to take pc programming as a minor class in college when I get old enough, but idk how to get started or what langauge to learn, right now my internet's not very reliable so I just got by downloading the Netbeans IDE bundle for C/C++ programming, I am planning on working on Operating Systems, Games, and I would like to incorporate some of that into vehicles or amateur radio. I am going to take a computer support tech class out to my local Career Center hopefully that'll help with the hardware issues in testing operating systems for real time use. I hope I could get a good book on a programming langauge or hardware book for preparing them for making operating systems out of. I always thought those in dash computer stuff for cars were cool. I heard that C/C++ was a good for games and I don't know where to start for OS's

just need a good starting point that I can make a whole OS or program out of without downloading big files (or too many little ones) like to have it as non-confusing setup for me as possible too --any ideas?

Take java that's the one most offered in schools. Java is very reliable and it's very similar to C++ I took it and i took the college course at my school and got college credit for it.
