Hello people, I recenty built my own gaming pc (and posted as a project here). The motherboard I used was a micro atx motherboard, see it here. This was my first time building a PC, and I did not notice that I had bought a micro atx motherboard for a normal atx case.
Anyways, I want to upgarde to a bigger motherboard for more pci slots and ram, but I have a couple questions:
-Is it possible to change a motherboard while keeping the data on my hard drive (music, videos, applications)?
-What are the chances that it will work? If not, what kind of problems might I experience?
-Are there any restrictions towards the type of motherboard I must buy? Like same brand/chipset?
-I have a Windows XP cd, is that all I need?
-What steps do I need to take? It probably isn't as easy as unplugging everything and simply swapping the motherboard, right?
That's pretty much it, please leave any comments and all help is appreciated!
