I sometimes find it hard to motivate myself to take the time and actually code a piece of code. Unless of course its useful to myself or others. My other problem is actually coming up with idea’s which are practical and can be used daily. Moving on to the point, I find myself constantly reading a comic online. Since there are so many days in a year, I sometimes forget to check out the latest comic. After doing a bit of snooping around I came up with a plan of downloading every comic for the entire year by creating a script which will take a specific string to fetch from the server and then save that string (image) to my server. It would have been so much easier if they would have just allowed me to view their /images/ directory, but since they won’t. I have to find away around it. Each comic is saved to the /images/ directory with the following syntax “img_80610.gif”, “img_80611.gif” As you can see, there is the word “img_” followed my the year, month, date. I need to some how make my script do a simple for loop in which it grabs the files like this: “img_”.year++.month++.day++.gif If you have any tips for me, please feel free to post them. I plan on doing this in PHP and cURL but my knowledge with cURL is limited. I will post back when I have some working code.
