Make an Interview Video

Make an Interview Video

Description

Interview style videos are cool, but challenging to make.  This activity will show you how.

Basic Steps

Here is what you need to do.

  1. Develop a set of quesitons or talking points.
    • Make sure that they are open ended.  That is, not just simple yes or no questions.
    • Start with icebreaker questions designed to establish a connection.
    • Then move into more detailed questions.  And be ready with follow up questions!
  2. Share the talking points with the interviewee.
  3. Consider the setup.
    • Where do you want to take the video?  Make sure it is quiet - little or no background noise.
    • What angle or position do you want to shoot the video from?
    • Is the lighing good or do you need to add lights?
    • Do you need a microphone to capture voice?
    • Will you try to use more than one camera? Note that multiple cameras is more complicated in terms of editing and syncing the audio.
  4. Set up the location for the interview.  Camera, lights, microphone, chairs, etc.
  5. Record the interview.  You can ask a question more than once necessary and fix during editing.
  6. Load your video into your favorite editor. Edit, add titles, credits, etc.
  7. Upload to this activity and share with your friends.
