Documentary film is a broad category of visual expressions that is based on the attempt, in one fashion or another, to "document" reality.
This activity will help you to create a great documentaty. If you are pretty new to video making, you should try out some of all of the video learning path.
Basic Steps
Here are the steps to completing your documentary.
- Write a good script
- Create a storyboard (shot-by-shot outline of the script).
- Gather up your stuff (camera, tripod, microphone, lights, computer and editing software)
- Schedule time with everyoen who will be involved
- Film everything on the script following your storyboard.
- Edit the footage into a concise film that is of the required length.
- Write a documentary treatment, which includes a synopsis and other details about the film.
NOTE: Film two or three times more footage than you expect to use. It can always be edited later.
